Restshop project ride: El Rosso Classico
The Red Classic... This is Ian-the-design-dude's ride – a 1983 Polo Classic C Formel E. Bought as a daily driver a couple of years ago, the car has been a joy to run and has hardly gone wrong at all! It has had a brake transplant, using the 239 mm discs and callipers from a Mk 1 Golf. It has also been treated to a 40 mm altitude adjustment, although you wouldn't really know it unless you directly compared it to a stock height car!
It also features some Restoshop-sourced blingay-bumpay front and rear. Other awkward parts sourced were the stock black rain gutter trim (still not fitted), a decent glovebox door and some badges (also still not fitted!). A set of 4 re-painted ATS Classic rims will be put on as soon as tyres can be bought.
Although not perfect, El Rosso scrubs up quite nicely and is regularly representing the later end of the Undesirables scale at GTI International and other events. Pics below show before, then after...
